HIGHLIGHTING PROVERBS

The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: He who keeps his way preserves his soul. [Proverbs 16:17] Study the map, follow the map, trust the map, believe in the map of God’s Word and your path will always get you to the place of God’s perfect will.

Pride goes before destruction, And A haughty spirit before a fall. [Proverbs 16:18] First pride, then the crash----the bigger the ego, the harder the fall.

Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. [Proverbs 16:19] Pride brings down many winners and is contagious. The principle-----the best of friends come in plain, unwrapped packages.

He who heeds the Word wisely will find good. And whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he. [Proverbs 16:20] Wisdom and faith will multiply into godliness and favor when used in making daily decisions.

HIGHLIGHTING PROVERBS

Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they love him who speaks what is right. [Proverbs 16:13] Good rulers don’t appreciate those who flatter and speak hypocritically. They want men who are frank and sincere; whose word is trustworthy.

As messengers of death: is the king’s wrath. But a wise man will appease it. [Proverbs 16:14] Men and women of wisdom choose to appease rather than argue with those over them.

In the light of the king’s face is life; and his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain. [Proverbs 16:15] Good-tempered leaders invigorate lives; they are as refreshing as a midsummer’s rain.

How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver! [Proverbs 16:16] Earthly riches are not to be compared to wisdom and knowledge. Riches often disappear overnight but divine wisdom remains throughout eternity.

GOD IS PEACE

So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it “The LORD is Peace.” [Judges 6:24]

Peace is not an external absence of conflict but an inner sense of assurance that all will be well because your heavenly Father cares for you. The God of peace is in control of the world and when we submit to Him and trust Him totally, we will experience peace even when everything around us is in chaos. Too often we worry because we haven’t learned to trust God in all things and so we deprive ourselves of peace. Lay all your worries and concerns at His feet and you will experience His peace. The peace that passes all understanding.

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts you. [Isaiah 26:3]

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. [Romans 5:1]

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. [Romans 15:13]

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. [Colossians 3:15]

The LORD gives strength to His people; the LORD blesses His people with peace. [Psalm 29:11]

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. [2 Thessalonians 3:16]

If God be our God He will give us peace in trouble. When there is a storm without, He will make peace within. The world can create trouble in peace, but God can create peace in trouble. [Thomas Watson]

GOD IS OUR REFUGE

The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms; He will thrust out the enemy from before you, and will say, "Destroy!" —Deuteronomy 33:27

Surely Bible-reading Christians should be the last persons on earth to give way to hysteria. They are redeemed from their past offenses, kept in their present circumstances by the power of an all-powerful God, and their future is safe in His hands. God has promised to support them in the flood, protect them in the fire, feed them in famine, shield them against their enemies, hide them in His safe chambers until the indignation is past and receive them at last into eternal tabernacles.

If we are called upon to suffer, we may be perfectly sure that we shall be rewarded for every pain and blessed for every tear. Underneath will be the Everlasting Arms and within will be the deep assurance that all is well with our souls. Nothing can separate us from the love of God-not death, nor life, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature.

This is a big old world, and it is full of the habitations of darkness, but nowhere in its vast expanse is there one thing of which a real Christian need be afraid. Surely a fear-ridden Christian has never examined his or her defenses.
