LOSING YOUR FIRST LOVE

Write this letter to the angle of the church in Ephesus. This is the message from the one who holds the seven stars in his right hand, the one who walks among the seven gold lampstands. I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars. You have patiently suffered for me without quitting. But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first! [Rev. 2:1-4] NLT

Losing your first love; twelve evidences.

  • When we delight in others more than in the Lord. [Mark 12:30]
  • When we no longer desire rich fellowship in God’s Word and prayer. [Psalm 42:1-2]
  • When our thought life no longer reflects God. [Psalm 10:4]
  • When we make excuses for sin. [John 14:15, 15:10]
  • When we do not willingly or cheerfully give to God or others. [1 John 3:17-18]
  • When we fail to love others as the Lord commands. [John. 13:34]
  • When we view Christ’s commands as burdensome rather than expressions of His love. [John 14:21]
  • When we strive for the approval of the world rather than God. [1 John 2:15, John 15:9]
  • When we fear rejection instead of sharing Christ. [John 15:20]
  • When we are not willing to give up an activity that is offensive to others. [Romans 14:15]
  • When we blend in with the world and become complacent to sin around us. [Matthew 24:12]
  • When we do not regularly forgive those who offend us. [1 John. 4:20]
