HIGHLIGHTING PROVERBS
Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they
love him who speaks what is right. [Proverbs 16:13] Good
rulers don’t appreciate those who flatter and speak hypocritically. They want
men who are frank and sincere; whose word is trustworthy.
As messengers of death: is the king’s wrath. But a wise man will appease it. [Proverbs 16:14] Men and women of wisdom choose to appease rather than argue with those over them.
In the light of the king’s face is life; and his favor is like a cloud of the latter rain. [Proverbs 16:15] Good-tempered leaders invigorate lives; they are as refreshing as a midsummer’s rain.
How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver! [Proverbs 16:16] Earthly riches are not to be compared to wisdom and knowledge. Riches often disappear overnight but divine wisdom remains throughout eternity.
