WHEN OUR FAITH WAVERS
Faith is at the heart of our Christian life. We
are saved by grace through faith; we receive forgiveness of our sins, enjoy a
personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and have assurance of our
salvation all through faith. By faith we experience the peace of God and the
power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Word of God tells us that praying in
faith “avails much” (James 5:16). Yet we live lives that tend to be characterized
by doubts and wavering faith. Our faith wavers when we (1) Apply human thinking to our circumstances (2) Allow our feelings to overcome our faith
(3) Fail to see God at work in our
circumstances (4) Have guilt
over sin, past or present (5) Listen
to the enemy’s lies. Faith is described in Scripture as “the assurance
of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). Does
confidence and conviction define your faith? You think about that.
