WHAT IS HUMILITY

Read (Luke 18:9-14)

Humility is an attitude of dependence as we recognize that all we have is a gift of God. Three truths concerning humility: (1)-Humility is quick to confess sin and slow to point out sin in others. The tax collector asked God to be merciful to him a sinner. Pride on the other hand is slow to confess sin and quick to point out sin in others [verses 11-13].

(2)-Humility asks for and receives God’s forgiveness and in turn is quick to forgive others [verses 13-14]. (3)-Humility is content to be behind the scenes. Pride insists on being in the spotlight. Pharisees loved the best seats in the synagogues so they could be seen [verse 12].

God will allow adversity into the lives of His children in order to root out pride.
