The Never-Ending Banquet

In Proverbs 15:15 it says: "All the days of the afflicted are evil, but he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast." The Hebrew word translated afflicted can also be translated downcast, and refers to people who look down. You could paraphrase Proverbs 15:15 to read; (All the days of those who look down are bad, but for the happy heart, life is a never-ending banquet). May I say, we tend to put greater focus on the quality of the days, the circumstances if you will, rather than on the quality of the heart.

We seek good days, we want good things to happen in our lives. We believe if good things happen, our lives will be full of joy and peace. This is not true. Child of God, the truth is in the proverb, your life is not in the hands of your days or circumstances. Your life is in the hands of a loving Father who is Sovereign over His creation....a heart committed to Jesus, filled with the love of God will make your days a never-ending banquet. If you look down all the time, your days will be evil, but if you look up, in faith, hope, love and worship, your days will be full of freedom, joy and faithfulness to Christ. You think about that.
